FX CHASSIS GUIDELINES & FX CLASSES DEFINED
May use original manufacturer (OEM) frame rails and parts specifications or may use a manufactured aftermarket tube chassis (defined below).
No rear engine lawnmowers.
Must be a front engine, traditional style lawnmower with a hood covering the engine and rear fenders.
Firewall protection is highly recommended. Engines should be separated from the driver by using a safety shield or stock cowling.
Discrete chopping of the chassis to install after-market clutches, gear boxes, seats and axles are allowed.
Scalloping of frame is allowed to lower the seat on a tunnel type chassis.
*Keeping with the spirit of lawn mower racing, starting with the OEM chassis is highly recommended. It is also highly recommended that the following guidelines be used in the spirit of keeping Lawn Mower Racing affordable*
Tube chassis can be used following these guidelines:
Frame rails from the front axle to the back axle must be one piece and of the same size tubing.
It also must be parallel to each other at a Maximum of 15" apart.
A 3” bearing support on the right side is highly recommended due to the offset.
The front axle must be welded to frame rails using the full dimension of the tube. Pinching or swaging of the frame rail at contact point of front axle is not allowed.
It also must have a straight line to the front axle.
WHEELBASE:
Center of the front axle to the center of the back axle is a minimum 39" unaltered for FXS and minimum 42" unaltered for FXT. Maximum for both classes is 54".
No more than 4" of total offset. Offsetting of axles, center of frame to outside of right tire is to be 23" and from center of frame to outside of left tire is to be 19" giving a total offset of 4".
WHEELS/TIRES:
Tires must be the same size per each axle; for example you may use 6” tires on the front axle and 8” tires on rear axle.
5” minimum wheels on front
6” minimum wheels on rear
NO stock lawnmower wheels allowed
May use lawnmower turf tires, go kart dirt tires, mini sprint tires (unless specified by the class rules you race in)
DRIVELINE:
May use live axle or transaxle
Can be belt or chain driven
May use 90 degree or custom gearboxes, jack shaft setups are allowed
Chain guards must be minimum of 1/8” thick made of aluminum or steel
NO ATV drivetrain or suspension allowed
NO all wheel drive mowers allowed
Driveshafts are permitted, but must be covered and connect to gear box. Driveshafts may NOT be directly connected to rear axle.
BUMPERS/NERF BARS:
Side nerf bars are mandatory, must not protrude beyond outside of the tires
Closed LOOP rear bumpers are mandatory, must be a 1/2” from the outside of the rear tires wide
Front bumpers are option, but must not be wider than the width of the hood
Front and rear bumpers must be made out of round tubing, and be in a loop
NO square tubing or pointed edges allowed on bumpers
Rear Axle:
Rear wheels are to be secured with lock collars
Front Axle:
Front axle may be pinned, bolted, or welded into stock location, to eliminate stock pivoting.
No suspension or shock absorbers allowed
Axles must be one piece beam design
Front spindles minimum of 5/8” diameter
Front spindles must be drilled and cotter pinned
*If using a custom axle, location must not be on top of chassis. Must be as close to stock position as possible
Steering:
Direct steering is mandatory.
Push Pull steering is allowed providing steering moves in the same direction as the front wheel
Must use lock nuts on all connections
Linkages must use ball type threaded rod ends
NO plastic Steering wheels
NO handle bars allowed
Brakes:
Hydraulic brakes are mandatory
Front brakes are highly recommended
SEATS:
Go kart seats allowed
No offsetting the seat
Mini Mow: (Ages 5-11)
Chassis:
FX Style
Frame build may be of round or square tubing. Frame width max 15". Must be steel, No aluminum frames.
Bumpers mandatory.
Body/hood may be home made but be formed like a mower. Stock mower body/hood/ is preferred.
Min 5" diameter or 6“ diameter aluminum wheels.
Wheelbase minimum 39". Maximum 46".
Maximum 42" width and offset allowed as outlined in the “FX Chassis Guidelines.”
All steering components must be fastened securely with nylocks or cotter pins.
Kill switch should be jet ski type tether.
Hydraulic KART type brakes intact and working safely, front brakes optional.
Exhaust routed down, away from driver, if exposed must have header wrap.
Carburetors must have double springs per mower racing standards.
Front axle round tube or boxed and steel.
Axles must all have safety clips, bolts or pins.
Chains, sprockets and clutches must have METAL guard covers protecting driver.
Any shoe or drum type clutch allowed.
May use foot pedals or hand throttles.
Specs:
6:1 Final drive rule. Example: 12T clutch, 12T on Jack shaft and 72 axle sprockets.
1” inspection hole at clutch drum. Mark on clutch and should be one revolution of the tire to 6 revolutions on the clutch.
Tires maximum 12" diameter.
Engine: 6.5 HP 212 predator motor max RPM 3650. Aftermarket air filter and pre-filter ok. No modifications whatsoever other than header and cone type air filter.
MINI MOW PRO: (Ages 8 - 13)
A class to step up after kids have mastered Mini Mow.
Only changes that can be made from Mini Mow to Mini Mow Pro is you can change gear ratio of 4.35 (12-12-14-61) or (16-16-16-69). These are the only 2 sprocket set ups allowed. No other options.
Must have minimum 1year experience in Mini Mow or max out of Mini Mow age range.

Drivers must be 18 years old with more than one (1) full year of experience in a Prepared Class or other FX style class
***EXCEPTION: teenagers 15-17 may race FXS only with permission from series staff, based on previous racing experience.***
FXS:
-Engines must be lawnmower engines or direct replacement engines, For example: Clone type engines.
-May use single cylinder OEM rated OHV, L-Head (Flathead), or opposed twin (46ci maximum) flat head
-Original engine block assemblies must be used
-Billet aluminum flywheel is mandatory
-Internal and external modifications are allowed to engines
-Modifications to block and heads are allowed
-Billet side covers and sumps allowed
-Billet/aftermarket valve covers may be used to allow for clearance for roller rockers
-All rotating assemblies must be covered
FXT:
-Vertical or horizontal, Small Block Engines ONLY, 810cc 49 ci in. MAX
-NO Big Blocks
-Internal and external modifications are allowed
-Modification to block and heads are open
-Original engine block assemblies must be used
-Billet/aftermarket valve covers may be used to allow for clearance for roller rockers
-All Rotating assemblies MUST be covered
-Aluminum billet flywheel is mandatory
